Where do calls for assistance originate?

Calls for assistance may come from several sources. A call may be by the impaired pharmacist or student pharmacist who realizes they have a substance use disorder, or mental health issue and is seeking help.

Also, calls can come to OPHP from family, friends, colleagues who care for the individual and are concerned for their wellbeing. All calls will remain anonymous to the profession and OSBP as long as no official complaint or legal action has been taken against the impaired pharmacist, student pharmacist.

In these instances, an appointment will be made for the impaired individual with an OPHP approved assessment counselor. OPHP will pay for the initial assessment for the student pharmacist.

Pharmacists are responsible for the cost of their initial assessment. After treatment OPHP will monitor progress in recovery and assist in the re-entry into the profession or respective college of pharmacy.
